The Hyundai A-League’s Victorian clubs are uniting this weekend as they show support for the nation’s bushfire ravaged communities – donating a proportion of ticket sales to the Bushfire Disaster Appeal.
Melbourne Victory, Melbourne City and Western United FC are calling on their members and supporters to turn out in force this weekend as a show of support for the communities, Firefighters and Emergency Services personnel battling blazes across the country.
As part of a range of initiatives, the three clubs have come together to support the Bushfire Disaster Appeal. For every ticket sold at this weekend’s Round 13 matches in Melbourne, $2 will be donated to the appeal.
Melbourne City and Western United FC will clash tonight at AAMI Park in the opening match of Hyundai A-League Round 13, while Melbourne Victory will host Newcastle Jets at the same venue on Sunday.
Melbourne Victory CEO, Trent Jacobs, said the joint initiative is a small way the football community could help support those impacted by recent bushfires across Australia.

“We will be joining Melbourne City and Western United, donating $2 from every ticket sold for Sunday’s match to the Bushfire Disaster Appeal, which will help regional communities who need it most,” Jacobs said.
“To all our members and fans, we encourage you to come along on Sunday and show your support for those affected by the bushfires, as well supporting the inspirational firefighters and Emergency Service personnel who are working tirelessly to keep Australians safe.”
Melbourne City CEO Brad Rowse said all three Victorian Clubs will also be encouraging fans to donate whatever they can to the Bushfire Disaster Appeal.
“We are all devastated by the impact of the fires on communities around Victoria and across the country, and in awe of the work of those tackling them.”
“We encourage our members and supporters who attend this weekend’s games or who are watching at home to please dig deep and donate whatever they can to this Bushfire Disaster Appeal.”
Western United CEO Chris Pehlivanis added: “I echo these sentiments and call on Western United members and fans to either get to our game tonight or donate whatever you can, as a way of supporting this important cause.
