Tonight two of Football Federation Victoria-s most famous clubs will battle it out for the last remaining spot in the Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
South Melbourne FC hosts fellow NPL club Melbourne Knights at Lakeside Stadium in the fourth of the Dockerty Cup quarter finals for the chance to be Victoria-s fourth non Hyundai A-League club to qualify for the Westfield FFA Cup.
Both clubs, who have six NSL championships between them, progressed through the earlier stages of the Dockerty Cup and now find themselves up against each other on a Wednesday night in June with plenty to play for.
In their only previous meeting this season, which came in Round 6 of the NPL back in April, South Melbourne edged the Knights out 1-0. Tonight-s game looms as just as tense and tight an affair with the chance for to return to the national stage as part of the Westfield FFA Cup.
With the Draw for the Round of 32 taking place this Friday, tonight-s game is a fitting finale to complete the makeup of the clubs that will vie for the inaugural Westfield FFA Cup.
Gates open at 6pm with kick-off at 7.30pm AEST.
