Sydney FC has moved to secure the future of rising star Vedran Janjetovic by locking the goalkeeper into a new two year deal with the Sky Blues.

The Croatian-born stopper has been one of success stories of the Sky Blues season having signed for the club from Sydney United following a successful trial at the start of last season.

The deal will keep the 26-year old at the club until the end of the 2015/16 Hyundai A-League season.

“Vedran has been a real find for Sydney FC and has improved game after game,” said Head Coach Frank Farina.

“He is still young in keeper terms and is learning a lot. I have no doubt the best is yet to come from him.”

For Janjetovic, a former Sydney FC youth team keeper, the chance to continue to improve in the Hyundai A-League was one he couldn-t turn down.

“I-m extremely happy to be staying at Sydney FC for another two years,” he said. “It-s a great environment to learn in and I feel I have come a long way in my development already.

“The coaching staff and all of the guys in the dressing room have been fantastic since I joined the club and I-m delighted that I will get the chance to improve here.”

Janjetovic has made 30 appearances for the Sky Blues in one and a half seasons at the club.
