Former Juventus keeper Jess Vanstrattan will make his Hyundai A-League debut for Gold Coast United in Saturday night’s clash with Central Coast at Bluetongue Stadium.
The 27-year-old has been sidelined since early August after injuring his ankle just days before his club’s Round 1 win over Brisbane Roar.
But a shoulder injury to No.2 Scott Higgins, who has filled the role for the past six weeks, has presented Vanstrattan with an opportunity to play his first A-League match in his hometown of Gosford.
“We didn’t intend for Jess to play on Saturday, but circumstances have dictated this situation and from what I have seen in training this week, and from what I have heard from our goalkeeper coach, he is ready,” coach Miron Bleiberg said.
“He might be a little short of match practice, but there is no doubting his quality and we are all confident that he will show that quality in his first Hyundai A-League match for the club.’
