Melbourne Victory captain Carl Valeri has praised his side’s lethal combination of grit and skill after notching a well-earned 2-0 win over Adelaide United.
Classy goals from James Troisi and Besart Berisha either side of the break were enough to overcome a feisty Adelaide at Coopers Stadium, where Victory have now bagged a maximum six points this season.

“It was a hard game. We were just good enough to come out on top,” Valeri told Fox Sports.
“The thing I like about Victory at the moment is we can differ between the two.
“We can work hard and grind it out, but also turn it on and play quality football which helps in games like this.
“We’ve got a lot of quality in our team.”
While their outstanding form keeps Victory within reach of leaders Sydney FC, Valeri is paying little thought to his team’s title credentials.
“You don’t win trophies in January,” the 32-year-old said.
“Our aim is to perform every week and we’re getting better. Week-in, week-out we’re working harder and harder.
“We’ve just got to focus on the next game and that’s as far as we can look.”
