It’s been a crazy week of football across the globe, and on Friday night the Hyundai A-League more than kept its end of the bargain.
Only days after the extraordinary UEFA Champions League comebacks of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, it was the turn of Perth Glory and Adelaide United to produce an epic serving of knockout football.
It was Adelaide who pulled off an amazing turnaround to force extra time, with Ryan Kitto striking an equaliser in the very last moments of normal time.

Michael Marrone then cancelled out Scott Neville’s header to force penalties, where Glory shot stopper Liam Reddy pulled off four penalty saves and scored one himself, before finally, Joel Chianese dispatched the winning spot-kick.
Put simply, it was a contest that left everyone lost for words, as highlighted by Perth Glory’s Twitter account.

I am so proud of @AdelaideUnited after that performance. Penalties are a roll of the dice, but the character to fight back again and again to get there was enormous. That is AUFC. Bravo on a top season. FFA Cup winners & Semi Finalists. Onward we go next season. #PERvADL
