It was another massive weekend in the Westfield W-League, with several US stars stealing the show with some superb performances in Round 13.
Here’s a wrap of how some of the Americans playing in the Westfield W-League performed over the weekend.
Katie Stengel
Stengel has been key to the success of the Newcastle Jets this season and she displayed her qualities yet again in their 5-1 win against Canberra United.
Stengel was in fine form scoring a hat-trick, which ensured that the Jets took all three points and secured just second Finals birth since the Westfield W-League’s inaugural season.
Makenzy Doniak
Adelaide United came close to stealing points from league-leaders Brisbane Roar over the weekend, with Doniak on the scoresheet, capping off Emily Condon’s excellent work on the right wing.
Despite her excellent performance, Brisbane came from behind to beat the Red’s 4-2
Rachel Hill
Hill continued her fine goals-coring form alongside teammate Sam Kerr against the Wanderers.
Hill edged the home side ahead in the 78th minute when flicked on by Kerr, giving Glory a 3-2 lead only for the visitors to hit back late on to end their Perth’s finals hopes.
Emily Sonnett
The American defender came back from international duty, just in time for the Big Blue.
Sonnett came off the bench in the second half and ensured the Sky Blues held on for a 2-1 win to keep the pressure on league-leaders Brisbane Roar.
