Perth Glory has signed American midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo for the remainder of the 2015-16 Westfield W-League season.
The 23-year-old joins the club on loan from her hometown team, the Chicago Red Stars in the National Women’s Soccer League.
“I’m really excited to be playing here in Perth. It’s a great opportunity to continue to play in a competitive environment and grow as a player. The girls on the team have been nothing but welcoming, and I’m excited to get on the field wtih them,” DiBernardo said.
Originally from Naperville, Illinois, DiBernardo has been capped as a youth international for the United States, representing her country at the U-20 and U-23 levels.
She was a key part of the United States championship winning side at the U-20 World Cup in 2012, scoring a goal in the Quarter Finals of the tournament.
Her father Angelo also played for the US National team, earning 20 caps from 1979-1985.
She is the second player from the United States to join Perth Glory Women this season, after the club captured the signature of midfielder Nikki Stanton from Sky Blue FC earlier this year.
DiBernardo will join her new teammates this week, and could make her debut against against Brisbane Roar this Sunday at 11am.
