In-form Caltex Socceroo James Troisi says his Melbourne Victory homecoming has provided the spark for his highly-anticipated return to the national team.
Troisi celebrated his selection in Ange Postecoglou’s latest 30-man squad with another starring performance on Saturday night, scoring the final goal in Victory’s clinical 4-1 win over Perth Glory.

The 28-year-old, who scored 13 goals during a fruitful loan period at AAMI Park three seasons ago, has rediscovered the form he lost during recent spells in Saudi Arabia and China.
“The decisions to go there were the best choices I had at the time,” Troisi told Fox Sports.
“Unfortunately it didn’t work out but what was in my hands was the decision to come back here.
“I really enjoyed myself last time and I’m enjoying myself now.
“When you’re comfortable, when you’re getting looked after, you play your best football. That’s what I’m doing.”
Troisi was instrumental as Victory came from a goal down to overpower Perth, a result which keeps the Hyundai A-League premiership in play for at least another round.
“Tonight was one of our best performances,” the former Atalanta and Juventus man said.
“We want to come home flying [and] hit our stride going into the Finals Series. That’s a good start tonight and we’ve got a lot more to improve on.”
