According to reports in The Australian, Victory coach Ange Postecoglou is believed to have travelled to Athens to speak with the man who led Greece to glory in Euro 2004.
It is understood the 36 year-old midfielder is set to leave English Premier League club Fulham, with a decision on his future to be made in the next week.
Karagounis has previously played for Panathinaikos, as well as Inter Milan and Portuguese club Benfica.
