Sasa Ognenovksi could be set for a return to the A-League, with reports indicating the defender will join Sydney FC for the rest of the season.
Fairfax Media has reported that Sydney FC have been in talks with the 34 year old for some time, and will sign the free agent shortly.
The news comes after Sydney looked set to sign Eddy Bosnar, only to see the Mariners pinch him from under their noses.
Ognenovski has been capped 22 times by the Socceroos and most recently plied his trade in Qatar with Umm-Salal.
The hulking defender has previously played in the A-League with Brisbane and Adelaide, helping the latter to the final of the AFC Champions League in 2008.
If he returns, Ognenovski will join fellow Socceroos Tom Rogic and David Carney in the A-league as they all look to enhance their chances of a World Cup berth.
