The Hyundai A-League could be welcoming another Italian star to its ranks next season with Melbourne Victory said to be in talks with former Palermo captain Fabrizio Miccoli.
With the departure of Marcos Flores from the club, the Victory are now looking to fill the void of the former Johnny Warren medallist with another marquee international.
Micolli played alongside Sydney FC star Aleassandro Del Piero at Juventus having also played with other Serie A sides Perugia, Fiorentina and most recently Palermo.
It was at the Sicialian side that he asserted himself as one of the top strikers in the league setting new club records for most Serie A league goals (74), most goals in all competitions (81) and most Serie A league appearances (165).
The 34-year-old scored eight goals and had nine assists in 29 matches last season but could not help Palermo being relegated from the Italian top flight.
Micolli was also capped ten times for the Italian international side between 2003-04 where he scored two goals for the Azzurri.
The Victory-s marquee slot has also been linked to Greek captain and Euro 2004 winner Giorgos Karagounis who played at English Premier League club Fulham last season.
