ROAR SECURE NEW ‘BIG MAC’
*Maccarone has spent the majority of his career in Serie A, playing for clubs like Sampdoria, Siena, Palermo and most recently Empoli
*The 37-year-old also spent five years in England with Middlesbrough (2002-07), where he was team-mate to Caltex Socceroos Mark Viduka, Luke Wilkshire and Mark Schwarzer.
*He has played over 500 matches in his career, scoring just under 200 career goals.
*Maccarone is Roar’s third major signing of the off-season – joining Fahid Ben Khalfallah and Corey Gameiro – and he’ll take over leading the attack from the departed Jamie Maclaren.
*The Italian could make his Roar debut in the club’s Westfield FFA Cup clash against Melbourne Victory on August 9.
