Transfer news: Reds confirm double departure

Adelaide United have announced Grand Final hero Bruce Kamau will depart the club having decided to pursue an alternate opportunity.

The 21-year-old winger was a revelation off the bench for the Reds this season and shone in the Hyundai A-League Finals Series when thrust into a starting role, scoring the opener in the club’s Championship triumph at Adeladie Oval.

Adelaide had hoped to extend the deal of the South Australian flyer, who made 32 appearances in all for the club following his senior debut in 2014.

“It’s unreal, best feeling of my career so far,” said Kamau following Sunday’s 3-1 triumph over the Wanderers.

“To bring the city its first championship and with the amazing boys we’ve got makes it even better.

“Guillermo put faith in me and I think I’ve repaid him with my performances on the pitch.”

Reds players swamp the youngster as the Reds took a crucial advantage.

The Reds also confirmed striker Eli Babalj has concluded his season-long loan spell with the club and will now return to parent club AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie.

Babalj made eight appearances for the Reds in what was a difficult season for the 24-year-old, after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament against Brisbane Roar in Round 16.

United stated they’re currently in discussion with all of its other out-of-contract players, with 12 of their 16-man Grand Final squad already secured for next season.

The club is also assessing a number of its Youth Team footballers for the 2016/17 season and beyond.
