Transfer news: fan favourite departs Roar

Brisbane Roar has confirmed the departure of long-serving striker Henrique, with the Brazilian exiting after 8 years with the Hyundai A-League club.

The 31-year-old was offered a new contract by the Roar but has decided to continue his football career abroad signing with Malaysian Premier League side, Negeri Sembilan. 

“I just want to thank all the people at the club. The coaches, the players, staff and the fans for everything. We have done it together,” Henrique said.

“It was a pleasure being part of the Brisbane Roar family. It’s one chapter on my life finishing and I will start another one. But one thing is for sure, I will never forget the memories we have created.

“I wish the Brisbane Roar all the very best and see you soon.”

He was a member of Brisbane Roar’s Hyundai A-League Championship winning sides in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2013/14, as well as ​Brisbane’s Premiership winning sides in 2010/11 and 2013/14.

Henrique played 136 times for the Brisbane Roar over eight seasons, the fourth most appearances by any player for the club, providing provided many memorable moments for Roar fans in the Orange jersey along the way.

Nicknamed ‘The Slippery Fish’, Riki sits in second-place on Brisbane’s all-time goal scoring list with 39 goals for the Roar including a goal in extra time of the 2011 Hyundai A-League Grand Final against Central Coast Mariners and the winning goal in Brisbane’s 2-1 victory after Western Sydney Wanderers in the 2014 Hyundai A-League Grand Final.
