Transfer news: City sign Dutch defender

Melbourne City have confirmed the addition of Dutch defender Bart Schenkeveld for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

*Schenkeveld has inked a two-year deal with City

*The 25-year-old right-back has joined from Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle, the former home of Caltex Socceroos defender Trent Sainsbury.

*At Zwolle he also worked under former City boss John van ‘t Schip.

*Schenkeveld is a youth product of Dutch giants Feyenoord and represented the Netherlands at U19s level.

Schenkeveld is new manager Warren Joyce’s fifth major acquisition of the pre-season.

He joins the likes of Eugene Galekovic, Scott Jamieson, Iacopo La Rocca and Stefan Mauk as major signings for the club.
