Adelaide United boss Marco Kurz has made his first signing as Reds coach, securing young Australian forward George Blackwood.
The 20-year-old has found a new home in Adelaide after he was released by champions Sydney FC at the end of the last Hyundai A-League campaign.
Blackwood spent the last three seasons at the Sky Blues, making 19 appearances in the Hyundai A-League, netting a solitary goal.
He was one of the Sky Blues’ best in May’s friendly clash with Liverpool at ANZ Stadium, which the EPL side won 3-0.
But with consistent opportunities in the starting XI appearing unlikely in Sydney’s star-studded squad, Blackwood opted for a fresh start at the Reds.
Blackwood, who made his Hyundai A-League debut in 2014, has represented Australia at both under-20 and under-23 level.
He joins goalkeeper Paul Izzo as the only current new signings at the Reds ahead of the 2017/18 Season.
