A Tom Lawrence Olimpico goal was the highlight of Perth Glory’s ruthless 3-0 dismantling of Central Coast Mariners at HBF Park.
The Glory were dominant from start to finish against a lacklustre Mariners side who could have had even more pain piled on them were it not for a typically excellent display from CCM goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne.
Nicholas Pennington and Andrew Taggart shared the scoresheet with Welshman Lawrence, whose fifth goal of the season saw him take a share of the golden boot lead with seven other players.
Pennington opened the scoring in the 31st minute after getting on the end of a well worked play via Trent Ostler and a quality square ball from Iraqi left back Charbel Shamoon that set the goal up on a plate.
Taggart doubled the Glory’s advantage in first half stoppage time when Pennington and Lawrence combined to tee Taggart up for his 58th goal for Perth – just one short of Andy Keogh’s all-time A-League era record for the club.

The 3-0 scoreline was the least Perth deserved, with their domination of the game comprehensive especially in the first half.
As well as the goal scorers, starting debutant Giovanni De Abreu kept the tempo up for the Glory, and Rhys Bozinovski was consistently threatening.
The Mariners had few bright spots aside from the form of Redmayne; his six saves kept the scoreline relatively respectable for CCM.
The result means that CCM remain at the foot of the table, while Perth move up to 7th – just a point below 6th placed Melbourne Victory.
The Glory will be looking to frank their form against Brisbane Roar at HBF Park next week, while the Mariners will host Macarthur at polytec Stadium.
