Thursday night preview: Adelaide United v Western Sydney Wanderers – June 3

Adelaide United need just one point to book their place in the 2020/21 A-League Finals Series as Western Sydney Wanderers travel to Coopers Stadium to try and spoil the party on Thursday, June 3.

The Reds are the last team in the top six yet to seal their route to the post-season leading into Matchweek 24. Only Wellington Phoenix can catch Carl Veart’s side by the end of the Matchweek; should Adelaide fail to notch a draw or victory against the Wanderers at Coopers Stadium Wellington can jump into sixth spot with a Friday-night win over Macarthur FC.

Tomi Juric returns to the fray for Adelaide after an injury layoff, while defender Jordan Elsey misses out through suspension after receiving a red card in his side’s last hit-out against Sydney FC.

The Reds lost 4-1 at home to the Sky Blues in Matchweek 23, whilst the Wanderers beat finals-bound Brisbane Roar 2-0 to take momentum into their last game of the season.

Carl Robinson’s team were officially removed from the Finals Series conversation when Brisbane Roar defeated Perth Glory on Wednesday night, meaning there’s nothing but pride on the line as the Wanderers look to win for the first time against Adelaide this season (L1, D1).

Phoenix players, staff and fans alike will back in the Red and Black for one night only as the Wanderers gun for all three points at Coopers Stadium.
