Three more Isuzu UTE A-League’s matches have been postponed due to positive COVID cases.
The scheduled round seven match between the Central Coast Mariners and Macarthur FC due to be held on Friday 31 December 2021 has been postponed as a result of the positive COVID-19 cases within the Central Coast Mariners team. These cases were previously announced on 27 December.
The scheduled match between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City FC due to be held on Saturday 1 January 2022 has been postponed as a result of the positive COVID-19 cases within the Melbourne City FC team.
The Melbourne City FC men’s football department previously confirmed positive COVID-19 cases on 22 December 2021 and as a result of the number of cases, the A-Leagues have determined that game postponement is necessary but City is expected to return to play next round.
The scheduled match between Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar due to be held on Sunday 2 January 2022 has also been postponed as a result of the positive COVID-19 cases within the Brisbane Roar team.
The Brisbane Roar men’s football department confirmed positive COVID-19 cases via PCR testing on 28 December, with all players, coaches and staff now in isolation and awaiting further results, while following the Queensland Health directives.
The scheduled match between Sydney FC and Perth Glory due to be held on Sunday 2 January 2022 was already previously postponed as a result of Perth Glory being in isolation in Western Australia.
In a statement, the A-Leagues said: “The A-Leagues protocols continue to be effective for screening and subsequent PCR testing in detecting the virus and ensuring immediate isolation.
“Our primary concern is for the health, wellbeing and safety of all players, staff and their families. All positive cases and those close to them are adhering to relevant state government health directives, in close consultation with the A-Leagues.
“We will continue to work with all clubs involved on confirming a new schedule for the postponed match as soon as possible.”
