Player of the Week – Mark Milligan (Melbourne Victory): Sublime performance from Victory-s number six, who showed once again why he’ll be a pivotal member of the Socceroos World Cup squad. Milligan was the architect of Victory’s equaliser against the Sky Blues when he showed plenty of desperation to win possession high up the field and send his team on the attack. Hearts would’ve been in mouths when he took a heavy knock to the knee but the holding midfielder played out the match and will hopefully not be sidelined heading into the finals.
Goalkeeper
Liam Reddy (Central Coast Mariners):
Another strong performance from this vastly improved shot-stopper.
Defenders
Diogo Ferreira (Brisbane Roar):
An excellent showing from the former Victory man.
Matt Smith (Brisbane Roar): The Roar skipper’s ball through to Dimi Petratos was sublime, and he bossed the backline after Heart’s early opener.
Nicola Petkovic (Sydney FC): It was a powerful display from the Serbian stopper in the Big Blue.
Storm Roux (Central Coast Mariners): Under the gun early but he stormed back (no pun intended) and laid on the winner for Bernie Ibini.
Midfielders
Aaron Mooy (Western Sydney Wanderers): Ran the show from the middle of the park when the Wanderers were on top of the Mariners, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
Mark Milligan (Melbourne Victory): As above.
Gui Finkler (Melbourne Victory): Played a neat through ball for the Victory’s equaliser in an all-round strong performance.
Strikers
Thomas Broich (Brisbane Roar):
Caused problems all night – as he does on a regular basis for the Premiers.
Adam Taggart (Newcastle Jets): Just cannot stop scoring. At this rate, the Golden Boot has his name all over it.
Dimitri Petratos (Brisbane Roar): Has flourished under Mike Mulvey at the Roar and he took his chance well in Friday night-s win over Melbourne Heart to get his team back into the contest.
