Shinji Ono finally started to show his dazzling best and made the cut for Team of the Week, along with ten others who were very impressive at the weekend.

GK: Michael Theo (Brisbane Roar)
Well someone wound back the clock to the days when his surname was longer and his efforts helped the Roar to their first Grand Final victory.
Theo may have been beaten by Mark Milligan but most keepers would have been, his efforts to stop Gui Finkler and Archie Thompson in particular in one-on-one situations were the stuff of the highest class of keepers.

DF: Pedj Bojic (Central Coast Mariners)
Two goals from a right back is pretty much a golden ticket to the Scout-s team of the week. Bojic was an energiser bunny down the flank for the Mariners, a prime example of the vigour Graham Arnold-s side are playing with the moment.

DF: Michael Beauchamp (Wanderers FC)
So here-s how you stick it to your former club. Turn up at your former home ground, captain your new side, physically dominate them like a boss and then score the match-winner. Huge performance.

DF: Nigel Boogaard (Adelaide United)
The Reds defender has made every post a winner this season and while he gave away a penalty that didn-t matter and was saved my Eugene Galekovic he saved the Reds on several other occasions. We-d say he-s grown in stature but the truth is he-s always stood tall.

DF: Jack Hingert (Brisbane Roar)
He may not be the most experienced defender in the Roar side or even the most respected, but Jack Hingert dealt with the threat of Archie Thompson very well. Hingert was strong when he needed to be and was a major influence for the Roar at the back.

DM: Mark Milligan (Melbourne Victory)
His form for the Socceroos may have been somewhat suspect over the course of the last year but he continues to bring the goods for the Victory, Milligan has grown in stature and importance for the Victory. Last year they struggled to have that quality passing coming out from the back, but Milligan has taken over where Kevin Muscat left off. Did we mention he also scored a cracking drive that left Michael Theo no chance? Well he did. Top performance

MF: Shinji Ono (Wanderers FC)
At times it-s seemed like Ono has struggled to fit into Tony Popovic-s set-up, but in the second version of the Sydney Derby he stood up, by standing Sydney FC up on several occasions. The display was proof that class is permanent.

MF: Tom Rogic (Central Coast Mariners)
Someone call 000, ‘cos this lad-s on fire. He might not have scored, or even assisted, but Rogic was yet again at the Heart of everything, willing to pick the ball up from deep and run straight the heart of the Heart. They may only be youngsters but both Rogic and Victory-s Marco Rojas are currently in a battle for player of the year right now.

MF: Travis Dodd (Perth Glory)
Afforded too much space by the Jets, the ageing winger was able to get a brace to get his team back to winning ways. Dodd likes to get forward but doesn-t always have the finishing touch – no such problems in front of goals against Newcastle.

AM: Marcelo Carrusca (Adelaide United)
He may be suspect in defence, he may just not want to defend, but he sure can attack. Creativity, vision, pace, shooting – Carrusca has it all and Wellington found that out the hard way by affording him far too much space in the midfield and he made them pay.

CF: Fabio Ferreira (Adelaide United)
There-s probably no better feel good story in the league this year than Ferreira-s. Not so long ago he was ready to give it all up, now he-s exciting fans at Hindmarsh Stadium on a regular basis with his bursts of pace and happy knack of finding the net. Like Carrusca, Wellington simply could not deal with what Ferreira brought and it was plenty.
