Adam Taggart has moved to clear the air over his switch from Perth Glory to Brisbane Roar, admitting his time in the west has been some of the best moments of his career.
While Roar officials were delighted to have secured Taggart’s signature on Tuesday, the move took Glory by surprise with owner Tony Sage expressing his disappointment.

But in a statement released by the Professional Footballers Australia on Taggart’s behalf on Wednesday, the 24-year-old insisted he was totally upfront with Glory hierarchy.
Taggart thanked everyone associated with Glory and said he thoroughly enjoyed his time at nib Stadium.
“To play in front of my family and my friends after having been away from home for four years means more than people know,” he said.
“I have spoken privately to all club staff to thank them and have also spoken with Tony Sage to thank him for his contribution to Perth Glory.
“The fans have always been fantastic and I will always have the utmost respect for them.
“I can’t thank them enough for the past two years. There have been some great memories and moments I will never forget.”
Taggart was Glory’s leading scorer in 2017/18 with nine goals from just 14 appearances.
In his last two campaigns with Glory, he played 38 times and scored 20 goals.
He now follows another ex-Glory marksman to switch to Brisbane, with Jamie Maclaren doing something similar a few seasons ago and flourishing under former Caltex Socceroos striker John Aloisi.
“John is a fantastic coach who has a great record of developing young strikers,” Taggart said of Aloisi.
“I feel as though I need a new challenge in a fresh environment and Brisbane can provide that.”
