The Westfield W-League Golden Boot race has rarely seen a round like it with Canberra United’s Ash Sykes nabbing four of the 26 goals scored on the weekend.
Sykes helped Canberra to a shock 7-2 win over Perth Glory and became just the third player after Kate Gill (5) and Tara Andrews (4) to score more than three in a Westfield W-League match.
That quartet of goals lifted the reigning Julie Dolan medallist to ten for the season, having now scored an incredible nine goals in the past five matches.
Also on ten goals is Perth Glory’s Sam Kerr who is on a similar run of form having now scored in six successive matches.
One off the pace is Melbourne Victory’s consistent goalscorer Natasha Dowie who scored in the derby win over Melbourne City and now has nine for the season.
Adelaide United’s spectacular 10-2 win over Western Sydney Wanderers saw hat-tricks for Adriana Jones and Sofia Huerta, with the pair now both on seven apiece.
