Sydney FC has confirmed it has signed experienced goalkeeper Liam Reddy for the next three seasons.
The signing means Reddy is at his third Hyundai A-League club in the space of three months after he moved from the Brisbane Roar to the Wellington Phoenix in the middle of last season.
Reddy has been brought in to cover the loss of championship custodian Clint Bolton who will join Hyundai A-League newcomers Melbourne Heart next season.
“What a time to be joining Sydney FC,” Reddy said.
“I am really happy to be back in my hometown and I am here to do whatever it takes to continue the success the club had this year.”
“I had a strong season with Wellington and it was some of the best football I have played.”
“I am going to work as hard as I can to continue my own form but be part of a winning team.”
Reddy said he was looking forward to being coached by Vitezslav Lavicka.
“The prospect of working under Vitezslav … is an amazing opportunity and is something that doesn’t come along very often,” Reddy said.
“There are a lot of excellent players here as well and playing alongside them will be special.”
“Even though the club achieved so much this season it is still hungry for more. I want to be a part that culture and I feel I can add to it.”
“Sydney FC is an excellent club, current champions and has the AFC Champions League on the horizon so it is an exciting time.”
Reddy has played 101 Hyundai A-League matches since starting out with the Newcastle Jets in the first season of the revamped domestic competition.
The 28-year-old also played 39 matches for the Parramatta Power in the old NSL.
