Sydney FC’s future on show in FFA Cup

There was a glimpse into the bright future of Sydney FC on Wednesday night in Darwin.

Coach Graham Arnold started youngsters Patrick Flottmann and Chris Zuvela in the Sky Blues’ 8-0 Westfield FFA Cup win over Darwin Rovers.

Nicola Kuleski, John Iredale and Charles Lokolingoy were then introduced off the bench in the second half.

FAITH IN THE FRESH FACES

“We’ve got some fantastic young boys coming through,” Arnold told Fox Sports afterwards.

“Rob Stanton has done a fantastic job with the NPL1 team.

“They train with us regularly and we’ll go into the season with 20 players because I’ve got a lot of belief in the younger boys and we’ll be using them a lot this year,” he promised.

BOBO STARS AS SKY BLUES CRUISE

The Hyundai A-League champions were never troubled at Darwin Football Stadium with Brazilian striker Bobo netting four goals.

David Carney, Jordy Buijs, Matt Simon and Milos Ninkovic were also on the scoresheet.

Arnold hailed the impact of last season’s top scorer Bobo.

“He didn’t want to come off which is always a great sign,” he said.

“I know from experience that it doesn’t matter who you play against, you want to score goals as a number nine.

“It builds confidence and Bobo was excellent tonight,” Arnold said.
