Sydney FC’s extraordinary record outside of NSW

Saturday night’s 4-0 mauling of Melbourne City was another big win for Sydney FC in what is fast becoming an extraordinary Hyundai A-League season for Graham Arnold’s men.

Firstly, their Brazilian striker Bobo made history by beating Bruno Fornaroli’s record as the fastest player to score 20 goals in one Hyundai A-League season.

Secondly, the Sky Blues extended their lead to 12 points at the top of the league with the Premiership now firmly in their grasp.

But the win on the road in Melbourne also extended an extraordinary statistic of away games outside NSW.

Sydney FC have not lost an A-League game outside of NSW since Round 25 in the 2015/16 Season when they lost to Brisbane Roar.

Since then, they have gone on a 17-game unbeaten run outside of their home state (W13, D4).

Sydney FC have truly become Kings of the Road.

Interestingly, they only play one more game outside of NSW in the remainder of this Hyundai A-League season (away to Perth in Round 25).

Sky Blues defender Michael Zullo told Fox Sports after the win over City that the team is constantly pushing its boundaries.

“The coaching staff and the players are not just accepting to win, we always want more. And that pushing ourselves each week is paying off.”

Sydney FC return home to NSW next week to play their first Asian Champions League group game on Wednesday night.
