Sydney FC’s attack ‘head and shoulders’ above the rest: Zullo

Sydney FC fullback Michael Zullo believes the Sky Blues have plenty of room for improvement but insists his side’s attack is clearly the best in the Hyundai A-League.

Graham Arnold’s side remain unbeaten after three matches and Zullo is confident that the Sky Blues will only get better ahead of Friday’s clash with Perth Glory.

“I genuinely believe that there’s heaps of improvement in this side,” he said.

“I think physically we’re the fittest team in the league, and in terms of quality in the attacking third I think we’ve shown enough already to indicate we’re head and shoulders above the rest.

“Defensively we were super strong last season and that’s something that I, and all the players around me, want to improve.

“We know that it’s probably the last thing we need to do to get us on the right track for the rest of the season.

“We’ve started off quite well but we feel that we’ve still go much more to give which is an indication of the expectations we place upon ourselves.”

Sydney welcome Glory to Allianz Stadium on Friday with the Sky Blues currently on a five-game winning streak against Kenny Lowe’s side.

And having lost just twice in 12 encounters against Glory at home, Zullo believes his team’s defensive solidity will be key to continuing that record this weekend.

“To be honest I don’t think it matters who we come up against, we expect to keep a clean sheet every single game,” he said.

“It’s something that set us up well for the title last year, and its something that’s underrated a lot in world football.

“We go out there every single game to keep a clean sheet and if we do that we’re confident that we’ll win the game.”
