Sydney FC v Newcastle Jets: match preview

Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets are both looking to return to the winners’ circle when they open Round 4 of the Hyundai A-League on Friday.

The Sky Blues suffered their first defeat of the campaign in last weekend’s pulsating Sydney Derby, going down 1-0 to a resurgent Western Sydney Wanderers.

But Steve Corica’s side produced their best performance of the season on that Saturday defeat and will fancy their chances of bouncing back if they can improve their proficiency in front of goal.

Ernie Merrick’s Jets are still searching for their first win of 2019/20 after surrendering a first-half lead in the 2-1 loss to Adelaide United last Saturday.

The Hunter club often save their best for clashes with the Sky Blues and Leichhardt Oval should be bouncing for this all-NSW match-up.
