Sydney FC v Adelaide United: match preview

Adelaide United will be determined to end their recent slump in form against a heavily fancied Sydney FC outfit on Saturday night.

The Reds went into their bye in Round 10 having won five of their last six fixtures, but consecutive losses to Central Coast Mariners and Western Sydney Wanderers have seen them fall to fifth place on the Hyundai A-League table.

Sydney FC meanwhile are unbeaten in their last eight games, winning seven of them, and have built a nine-point gap between themselves and Melbourne City on top of the table in the process.

The Sky Blues enjoyed an entertaining 3-2 win over the Reds in Round 1 at Coopers Stadium.

Adelaide came from behind twice in that contest but a late goal to Ryan McGowan settled the result in Sydney’s favour.
