Sydney FC are in talks with former English Premier League hitman Adam Le Fondre in a bid to add firepower to their squad ahead of the 2018-19 Hyundai A-League season.
The 31-year-old was given permission to speak to ‘an overseas club’ by his current team Bolton Wanderers, who described the approach as an ‘opportunity of a lifetime’ for the striker.

The Harbour City club have been searching for a replacement for 2017-18 Hyundai A-League golden boot winner Bobo, who struck 27 goals in 28 games as the Sky Blues stormed to the Premiers Plate by 14 points.
The man who rose to fame by scoring 12 goals for Reading in his maiden Premier League season in 2012-13 could be in line to fill the Brazilian striker’s boots for new head coach Steve Corica’s charges.
Sydney FC confirmed Le Fondre was one of a number of players the club are in discussions with, although no deal has been finalised.
“Adam is one of a number of players we are talking to but at the moment no deal has been completed. We are continuing to discuss options with a number of different players and will confirm to our members first as soon as any deal is done,” said a Sydney FC spokesperson.
Le Fondre, affectionately known to supporters as ‘ALF’, has been described as a terrace hero at Championship club Bolton. The 5’ 9” front-man has netted 183 career goals in all competitions in English football.
Sydney FC have already brought in Trent Buhagiar and Daniel De Silva (on loan) from Central Coast Mariners and Dutch defender Jop van der Linden this off-season.
