Sydney FC striker handed suspension

The MRP have made their determination on the citing of Sydney FC striker Matt Simon following last Friday’s match against Melbourne City.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP) – consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Contini and Alan Davidson – reconvened today to consider a Citation Incident involving Matt Simon of Sydney FC (the Player) which arose in or around the 82nd minute of Sydney FC’s match against Melbourne City FC on Friday, 9 December 2016.

The Player was cited by the MRP in accordance with the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations.  In reviewing the Citation Incident during this afternoon’s meeting, the MRP took into consideration all of the available evidence, including the submissions lodged by the Player.

The MRP determined that the Player committed the offence of R6 – Serious unsporting conduct against Michael Jakobsen. The MRP confirmed that the Player will serve a suspension of one (1) Hyundai A-League match, being the minimum sanction for the offence.
