Alex Brosque is certain Sydney FC’s commanding recent record against Melbourne Victory will be weighing heavily on their rivals’ minds ahead of Saturday night’s do-or-die Semi Final.
The reigning Hyundai A-League champions have won seven straight against Kevin Muscat’s men, who sealed a trip to Allianz Stadium with their late 2-1 win over Adelaide United on Sunday.
Having already prevailed in three Big Blue meetings this season, Sky Blues skipper Brosque believes his side are inside the heads of a team they beat on penalties in last year’s Grand Final.
“We know how tough games against Melbourne have been in the past so to have seven wins in a row over them, no doubt it’s playing on their mind. It’s on our mind,” the 34-year-old said.
“They’ll maintain the Semi Final is a different game of football.
“But in front of our home crowd and with our home record we’re very confident.”

Brosque’s view is shared by team-mate Michael Zullo, who is unconcerned by Victory’s strong recent form.
“Regardless of what they’ve done since December, we win every time we play against Melbourne Victory,” the left-back said.
“That’s something we’re taking into the weekend and we’re using that confidence to put in a good performance.
“We’re so motivated to cap off what’s been a fantastic year.”
