Sydney FC have announced the signing of Serbian midfielder Milos Dimitrijevic until the end of the 2013/14 Hyundai A-League season.
The 29-year old will go straight into the squad for Saturday-s derby clash with the Central Coast Mariners at Allianz Stadium (7.45pm kick off), after the club received his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Dimitrijevic has been training with the Sky Blues squad for the past two weeks and is pleased to have completed his move.
“It-s an honour for me to come to Australia and play for the country-s biggest club,” said the former Red Star Belgrade central midfielder.
“I have settled in very easily having Nikola (Petkovic) and Ranko (Despotovic) here and it-s helpful that a lot of the other players speak my language too.
“But everyone has helped me feel comfortable and hopefully this will help me play well from the start. I want to help the club do something special this season.”
Having represented both France at under 18-s level and Serbia in the under 21-s, Dimitrijevic has also played in the top leagues of Italy, France and Serbia.
Head Coach Frank Farina believes his talent and experience will provide a lift for the team.
“Milos has a very good background in football and has played for some top sides in Europe,” said Farina.
“He has shown me he is very good technically and can move the ball quickly which provides an excellent fit for our team.”
Dimitrijevic-s joins Nikola Petkovic, Ranko Despotovic, Tiago Calvano and Alessandro Del Piero as one of Sydney FC-s five overseas players.
He will wear squad number 21.
