Sydney FC have signed dual international Ellyse Perry for the 2012/13 season, allowing the 21-year-old to continue her goal of playing football and cricket at the elite level.

“I-m excited to be able to play for Sydney FC and also grateful to both clubs (Sydney FC and Cricket NSW) for allowing me to continue my dream of playing both sports,” Perry said.

“It-s no secret that I want to continue to play both sports and this allows me to do so.

“Playing for Sydney FC makes it a lot easier for me to fulfil training commitments with Sydney FC and Cricket NSW without having to drive to Canberra and back so it is ideal for me. As a Sydney girl I-m also excited about playing for Sydney FC in the 2012/13 W-League.

“Sydney FC has always been one of the best teams in the W-League with some amazing players and I look forward to joining them and hopefully playing a part.”

Sydney FC W-League coach Alen Stajcic welcomed Perry to the Sky Blues.

“It-s fantastic that Ellyse has joined us at Sydney FC,” he said.

“Ellyse is a talented football player, who will work in well with the established players who have helped us to success in recent years.

“We are aware that she has cricket commitments but we-re confident we-ll be able to work together to ensure she can continue to play both sports and, more importantly, make a strong contribution to the Sydney FC side.”
