Hyundai A-League champions Sydney FC have recorded record memberships for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
On Thursday, the Sky Blues surpassed their Hyundai A-League 2015/16 Season record of 13,154, with the number set to rise even further over the season.
Sydney FC’s target is 15,000 memberships which would result in a 20% increase year on year, while the current figures are more than double (119%) the number achieved six seasons ago (2011/12).
“Our Members are the heartbeat of our club and are a major part of the Sky Blue family,” Sydney FC CEO Danny Townsend said.
“To see the momentum they have helped build in the last six years is fabulous. Our aim is to reach new levels so to break our all-time Membership record this early is excellent news.
“There is a lot more growth and progress ahead but this is a fantastic step forward.”
Sydney FC’s membership boost comes after the club won the Premiership-Championship double last season.
The Sky Blues are also into the Westfield FFA Cup final for the second straight year and will play either Adelaide United or Western Sydney Wanderers in the decider.
Graham Arnold’s side have the first of three home games in the Hyundai A-League this Sunday when they host Wellington Phoenix at Allianz Stadium.
The club has also already set a new record for Westfield W-League memberships despite the new season being over two weeks away.
