Sydney FC poised to make Hyundai A-League history on Thursday night

Thursday night in Perth looms as an absolute must-see in the Hyundai A-League.

History, potentially, could be made by one side. While the other desperately needs a win to sneak into the six.

For the home team, it’s a huge game in the context of their season.

After a gritty 1-0 win on Sunday over Melbourne Victory at nib Stadium, Glory must continue their late-season push for the six with a good result on Thursday in front of their fans.

GLORY’S HOME GROUND BACK TO BEING A FORTRESS

Kenny Lowe’s men are now just one point off six – another victory and they’ll be breathing down the necks of Adelaide in fifth.

Sydney FC, however, are just two points from being the first Hyundai A-League club to win back-to-back Premierships.

Ange Postecoglou’s Brisbane Roar went agonisingly close in 2012, finishing two points behind Central Coast after hoisting the Premiership trophy a year earlier.

The reality of their season is starting to sink in.

“When you sit back and look at the reality, the reality is we’re eight points clear, scored 57 goals and conceded 20 I think that’s a pretty good season,” Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold said after their late show 2-1 win over the Mariners on Saturday.

“After a couple of losses, these boys aren’t used to losing, I had a lot of work this week to clear the mess out of the boys’ brains and to focus them on the reality.”
