Sydney FC ‘outstanding’ in first 45: Arnold

Despite a poor surface, Sydney FC were “outstanding” in the first half, said Sky Blue coach Graham Arnold after the league leaders cruised to a 3-1 win over Phoenix at Allianz.

The invincible run continues for Sydney FC, 19 games unbeaten following their win on Thursday night against the Kiwi outfit.

The unbeaten Sky Blues are now 12 points clear at the top of the Hyundai A-League ahead of second-placed Victory’s clash in Newcastle on Monday night.

“It was a fantastic performance, the first half especially was outstanding and that second goal was something like a training drill,” Arnold told reporters after the game.

Sydney FC players celebrate Milos Ninkovic's goal against the Phoenix on Thursday night.

“On another night we could have had five or six, but that’s where we’re aiming to be.

“I keep saying we’re only 50, 60, 70% of where we’ll end up as a team.”

One goal that would’ve made the Sky Blues boss happy was Bobo’s.

The Brazilian finished off a sweeping, clinical move on the bumpy Allianz surface, which was one of the goals of the season.
