Sydney FC ‘functioning at only 50%’, Arnie warns after dominating Glory

Sydney FC coach Graham Arnold has warned rivals that the reigning champions have plenty more improvement in them.

The Sky Blues remain 19 games unbeaten at Allianz, though their coach was a little baffled why his team didn’t win by more than 2-0 against Perth Glory on Friday night.

Sydney FC could've scored a hatful had it not been for Glory's Liam Reddy

“We worked quite hard on our defence this week but we forgot how to put the ball in the back of the net,” he told Fox Sports after the dominant 2-0 win.

Sydney ended with 23 shots to Glory’s 7 with just nine on target for Arnie’s men.

“It should’ve been all over at half time but you keep them [Glory] in the game at only 1-0 and [Sydney FC keeper] Redmayne has to make a great save.

“But we’ll get better and better and we’re functioning at only half of what we can be.”

Glory keeper Liam Reddy was absolutely outstanding.

Save after save kept Glory in the contest, which was only confirmed in stoppage time with Sydney FC’s second goal ( the third penalty of the match).

“It’s one of those days. You’ve got to give credit to ‘Rocket’ Reddy, he had a fantastic game for them but it’s about the execution and Lukey Wilkshire could’ve had a hat trick in the first half, that’s how far forward our full backs are.

“On another night it’ll be different and someone will cop it.”

Sydney FC next face City in Melbourne in a blockbuster Friday night clash on Nov 3.
