Sydney FC extend lead at top after downing Jets

Sydney FC have bounced back from their Westfield FFA Cup Final loss with a scrappy 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In a dominant performance, the Sky Blues controlled the contest and were rewarded with second-half goals to Milos Ninkovic and substitute Bernie Ibini.

Graham Arnold made a host of changes following Wednesday’s loss to City and it showed with Sydney unable to capitalise on their dominance in the opening stanza against a listless Jets outfit.

But the visitors clicked into gear after the break and could have won by more if not for wasteful finishing and the brilliance of Jets keeper Jack Duncan.
