Sydney FC celebration? ‘No chance’ says Arnie

Runaway leaders Sydney FC have one hand on the Hyundai A-League Premiership but any thoughts of party time have been put on hold by wily coach Graham Arnold.

The Sky Blues are 11 points clear of Melbourne Victory with five games to go.

The champagne corks could even pop this weekend if they take all three points and Victory fails to beat Perth Glory on Saturday night.

But Arnold insists there’ll be no Premiership party. Not now or over the coming weeks.

“Not a chance. That’s what the other teams want,” he said.

Sydney FC play host to Melbourne Victory in a bllockbuster 1 v 2 clash at Allianz Stadium on Friday night.

“The other teams want us to celebrate and take our foot off the pedal and that’s not going to happen. It’s about driving this team to be better and better and we know we have a lot left in us.

“From day one it was about driving this team to become the best team in A-League history.

“We have five games to go and it’s about winning those five games and getting better each game and creating history and creating a few records.”

Their next challenge is a clash with ninth placed Central Coast  at Allianz tonight.
