Sydney FC boss Graham Arnold has revealed one of his key attacking weapons is poised to re-commit to the Hyundai A-League Champions.
Speaking following the Sky Blues’ 3-0 friendly loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night, Arnold said utility David Carney will sign a new deal to stay in the Harbour City.

“David Carney will re-sign,” Arnold said.
“I’m very happy that we’ve probably kept 19 of the squad [from last season].”
STRONG SQUAD FOR BIGGER SEASON
Sydney have moved quickly to secure the majority of their double-winning squad with star trio Milos Ninkovic, Bobo and Jordy Buijs all inking new contracts with the Sky Blues.
Club captain Alex Brosque has also re-signed, along with veteran striker Matt Simon, but Arnold insists the club has the budget to further strengthen the squad for next season.
“I’ve got three or four [players to sign]. We’ve got enough money for three or four to bring in,” he said.
“It’s about improving the squad even more.”
Replacing the departed Filip Holosko (released) and Bernie Ibini (loan ended) will be a priority in the off-season, with the attacking duo contributing 11 goals for the Sky Blues last season.
And building squad depth will also be crucial with Graham Arnold’s side set for a far heavier workload next season as they compete in the Asian Champions League.
