An improving Adelaide United held league-leaders Sydney FC to a second straight draw in a 0-0 stalemate at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
The bottom-placed Reds restricted Sydney to just a single shot on goal as the two sides shared the points.
Adelaide created the best of the chances after half-time but Marcelo Carrusca and James Holland both failed to make their most of their openings.
The draw sees Sydney’s unbeaten run stretch to eight matches while the reigning champions are still yet to record a victory in their title defence.

GOALS
It took over seven rounds but for the first time this season the Hyundai A-League has witnessed a scoreless draw.
While Graham Arnold was clearly frustrated with his misfiring Sky Blues, Adelaide will rightfully rue their own failure to make the most of two good second-half chances.
INJURY WARD
Matt Jurman saw more red than just James Holland’s kit after a painful head clash with the Adelaide midfielder. After being fitted with a head bandage, the big defender’s next two actions were strong headers.
