The Original Rivalry clashes are always keenly-contested fixtures but it’s Adelaide United who heads into Wednesday night’s clash against Melbourne Victory looking to turn the tide.
The Reds love nothing more than to get one over their rivals from Victoria but Marco Kurz’s side hasn’t had a lot to cheer about in that department in recent times.
Victory have won their last three games in succession against Adelaide, while they have avoided defeat in each of their last seven trips to the City of Churches.

That is one of several ominous signs for the Reds. Victory haven’t lost since a last-gasp Chris Ikonomidis goal back in Round 2, and will equal their best run of form in five years if they can avoid defeat in this one.
If Adelaide United find the net against Victory it will be their 500th goal in the Hyundai A-League.
But their average of 1.09 goals per game against Victory is the fewest against any current club in the competition.

They are unbeaten in six matches and playing some exciting football but Wellington Phoenix will be keen to end a hoodoo against the Wanderers on Tuesday night.
Mark Rudan’s troops head to ANZ Stadium having not beaten Western Sydney in the last eight meetings between the two clubs.
And the Wanderers have won each of the last three, including a 3-0 drubbing earlier this season.
But home games haven’t always been kind to Markus Babbel’s men, especially at ANZ Stadium, where they have lost their last four games in a row.
Wellington will hope that trend continues as they are out to equal a club record by making it seven games on the bounce without defeat.

While the Wanderers’ results have been terribly inconsistent this season, they haven’t always had luck on their side.

Perth keen to stop Sky Blue rut
How Perth Glory players must shudder whenever they come up against the team in Sky Blue.
Glory have simply had no answers for matches against Sydney FC in recent seasons, incredibly losing their last nine matches between the two clubs.
It was the Sky Blues who inflicted the only defeat on Tony Popovic’s side so far in 2018/19, a 2-1 win at HBF Park last month.
If Perth were hoping a midweek fixture might help overturn that record they are out of luck – Glory’s last four matches on a weekday on home soil have all ended in defeats.

But there is likely to be goals in this one – and at both ends.
Steve Corica’s Sydney FC have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last eight Hyundai A-League games, with their last goalless draw coming 12 months ago.
The Sky Blues have shown great resolve so far this season, winning three games when conceding the opening goal, more than any other team in the competition.
