Sydney FC have re-signed star central defender Alex Wilkinson for a further two seasons, the club confirmed today.
In a huge boost for Sydney FC, experienced defender Alex Wilkinson has agreed to a new two-year deal with the Sky Blues, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
A key figure in Sydney FC’s success of the last two seasons, Wilkinson played every minute of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season for Graham Arnold’s troops.

Wilkinson, who has been capped 16 times by the Caltex Socceroos, will remain at the Sky Blues until the end of the 2019/20 campaign and says he’s pleased to be able to remain in Sydney.
“This club is like family to me, it’s my home, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be playing,” Wilkinson said.
“There’s a great journey ahead of us in 2018/19, we’ve got the majority of our squad sticking together and I want to be a part of the title successes to come.”
The news of Wilkinson’s retention is huge for the Sky Blues, who were disappointed to have fallen short in their bid to win back-to-back Championships.
Speaking after the 33-year-old’s re-signing, Sydney FC General Manager of Football Operations Terry McFlynn said: “Alex is one of our leaders and has been part of the backbone of the team during the success of the last two seasons.
“His qualities in defence and leadership off the park are key attributes in the success of the football club and it’s a major boost to have him on board for another two seasons.”
The Sky Blues squad are continuing to train for the next two weeks before splitting for their off-season break.
The squad will return on July 2 for pre-season training.
