Standing room only remains

Saturday’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final at Telstra Dome in Melbourne has proven popular with Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United fans, as well as Melbourne’s famed general sports fans, with less than 2,000 tickets remaining for the general public.

Saturday’s Hyundai A-League Grand Final at Telstra Dome in Melbourne has proven popular with Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United fans, as well as Melbourne’s famed general sports fans, with less than 2,000 tickets remaining for the general public.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) said they are confident of selling all tickets available to sell for the match on Saturday, presented by FOXTEL.

“Melbourne people enjoy sport and the marquee match of the season is no exception,” said FFA CEO, Ben Buckley.

“I am sure Melbourne Victory will be delighted to have strong local support but we expect Adelaide fans will also be very vocal.”

Buckley said that almost 2,000 supporters are expected to travel from Adelaide for the Grand Final in what is one of the great rivalries of the Hyundai A-League.

In the 2007 Grand Final, Melbourne Victory defeated Adelaide United 6-0 at Telstra Dome and Melbourne has defeated Adelaide in each of their past five meetings.

“All the experts will tell you that Melbourne has the edge, especially at Telstra Dome where they have won their past seven matches.

“But Adelaide has well and truly put the Hyundai A-League competition on the map within the Asian region over the past 12 months with their performance in the AFC Asian Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

“They are a quality team, and the result in last week’s Preliminary Final showed their determination to go one better against Melbourne Victory this year.”

Buckley said he expects the remaining tickets for sale to be snapped up before Saturday, and he also urged Telstra Dome’s Medallion Members to get a taste of Grand Final fever also.
