Football fans will have multiple opportunities to see Tottenham Hotspur’s star-studded squad up close after the schedule for their trip to Melbourne was released.
Spurs will join 2014/15 Hyundai A-League champions Melbourne Victory, UEFA Champions League runners-up Atletico Madrid and reigning Serie A title holders Juventus in the Australian leg of the International Champions Cup in July.
The international round-robin club tournament has been a huge success in recent years, with the 2016 edition the first time a Hyundai A-League club will be involved.
After pushing Leicester City all the way in this season’s enthralling Premier League title race, Spurs will kick-start their pre-season by again touring Down Under.
Yesterday marked a year to the day that striker Harry Kane fired Spurs to a 1-0 win over Sydney FC at a packed ANZ Stadium and he’ll be hoping to repeat the dose at the MCG against a couple of teams they could face in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Tottenham’s official supporters club in Australia, OzSpurs have announced a series of events as part of the week-long football festivities, which includes a free open training session, golf day, trivia night, a movie screening of Gascoigne, which features club legend Paul Gascoigne, as well as pre-match functions.

“We are really looking forward to it,” midfielder Erik Lamela told foxsports.com.au.
“We really enjoyed being in Australia last year (to play Sydney FC) so it will be great to visit again and see our fans as well as preparing for the new season with some great games.”
