Spanish ace’s airport arrival

The Mariners have called on their fans and Liverpool supporters to help roll out the welcome mat for star signing Luis Garcia at Sydney Airport this Thursday morning.

The former Spanish international is set to land at 7.00am having signed a marquee contract until the end of the season and it’s hoped the airport will be a sea of yellow and navy and red for Garcia’s arrival.

The Champions League winner was recently in Australia, scoring a brace in the Liverpool Legends 4-0 win over the Australian Legends in front of over 40,000 fans at ANZ Stadium.

“I am delighted to be joining a club like the Central Coast Mariners,” Garcia told the club’s website following news of the signing coup.

“This is an exciting challenge for me to play in the Hyundai A-League and with such a progressive club like the Mariners.”

“I am really looking forward to being on the Coast, meeting my fellow players, meeting the fans and to entertain them with my style of play.”

The 37-year-old looks set to be drafted straight into Central Coast’s squad for their home clash against the Wanderers on Saturday night.
