Electronics companies Bing Lee and Sony Australia today announced their collaboration to become major sponsors of Hyundai A-League club, Sydney FC, for the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons.

The agreement between Sydney FC, Bing Lee and Sony will see Sony branding of away shirts and home shorts, while Bing Lee will continue to be the major home shirt sponsor. Both parties will receive significant onsite presence during matches and integrated promotional activity will run throughout the upcoming seasons, which will benefit football fans throughout NSW.

Carl Rose, Managing Director, Sony Australia, explained how the opportunity to join Bing Lee in supporting Sydney FC created another opportunity for local extension of Sony-s global relationship with football governing body, FIFA.

Rose said, “Sony believes in the power of football – around the world and here at home in Australia. As we move through to the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, we know football is going to get even bigger here than it already is.

“Our support for the game, from FIFA right through to local Hyundai A-League clubs, shows our commitment to the passion and excitement of the ‘world game-.

“We know Bing Lee shares this passion, so to unite with them to become a co-sponsor of Sydney FC creates a fantastic opportunity for us all.”

“Sydney FC-s new management team, with its vision to drive the club forward to success locally and in Asia, was a major factor in our decision to join with Bing Lee to support the club. We look forward to celebrating that success with Bing Lee, their customers, the club, the fans, the staff and the players in coming seasons.”

Bing Lee General Manager, Phil Moujaes, commented, “Now entering our third consecutive year as major sponsors, we-ve really recognised the synergies between Sydney FC and Bing Lee.

“A strong family orientation, the bringing together of a diversity of ethnic backgrounds and the single minded strategic goal of competing successfully as a single, united team were objectives common to both parties.

“With the strength of the Sony brand now on the team as well, we look forward to a rejuvenated season of football, support and success.”

“To have two such outstanding companies on board as major sponsors is fantastic for the club and a great boost as we look ahead to the start of the new season,” added Sydney FC CEO, Stefan Kamasz.

“Bing Lee has been a very important member of our football family for a number of years and we are thrilled they have agreed to extend their sponsorship.

“Sony is an organisation with strong links to football, both in Australia and overseas and their decision to become a major sponsor is a great endorsement of the new direction we are taking here at Sydney FC.”

Sydney FC striker, John Aloisi, added, “Our hope for football in Australia is for it to become as popular here as it is on an international level and big name sponsors, like Sony and Bing Lee, will open doors and help us make this a reality.

“Football is already the number one played sport in Australia and it just keeps growing. We-ll be proud to wear these two brands on our shirts when we take to the pitch to kick off the season.”

Bing Lee-s relationship with Sydney FC began two years ago, in 2007, when the company celebrated its 50th consecutive year trading in Sydney and wider New South Wales and the ACT.
