Newcastle Jets goalkeeper John Solari has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2014/15 Hyundai A-League season.
The 19-year-old shot stopper has been instrumental in the success of Newcastle-s Foxtel National Youth League team this season, helping the young Jets into second place on the competition ladder with three rounds remaining.
Solari said he is pleased to have extended his stay in the Hunter.
“I-m really happy to have re-signed with the Jets for another season,” Solari said.
“My first season as a professional has been a big learning curve and I-m lucky to have a great coach in Bob Catlin and two great keepers in Mark Birighitti and Ben Kennedy to learn from.
“I think another year in this environment will really help me grow and improve as a goalkeeper and I-m looking forward to it.”
Solari joined the Jets during the offseason after progressing through the ranks of the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) and spending time with Adelaide United-s National Youth League team.
His previous Club before signing with Newcastle was White City in the South Australian Premier League.
Solari is once again eligible to compete for the Jets in both the 2014 NBN State League and 2014/15 National Youth League competition.
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said the Club was pleased to have retained the services of Solari for another season.
“As a Club, we-ve been really pleased with the way John has progressed since he joined the Jets,” Middleby said,
“He-s had a very solid season with our National Youth League team, which is a testament to his attitude at training and with that kind of work ethic, we see him continuing to develop next season.”
